Privacy Policy
This policy covers the Mera app and its website, merastyle.app. In it, "Mera" means the app and the independent developer who makes and runs it. Questions go to support@merastyle.app.
In short
- Mera has no accounts. It never asks for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth, and it does not buy or receive data about you from anyone else.
- Your wardrobe, outfits and style profile are stored on your device and in your own iCloud, not on Mera's servers.
- When you use a styling feature, the photos and text it needs go to Mera's servers, hosted on Cloudflare, and on to Anthropic or OpenAI to produce the result. Mera keeps no copy of your photos, and holds the result for about an hour so a dropped connection can retry.
- Apple provides the weather forecast and your iCloud sync, and handles payments and notifications.
- Mera shows no ads, does not sell your data, and uses no analytics company.
- You can turn cloud styling off, and delete what Mera's servers hold about your device, in Profile > Settings.
Your photos and styling
Mera's styling runs in the cloud. Before the app sends your first photo, it shows what is sent and who receives it, and none of it is sent until you agree. You can withdraw at any time in Profile > Settings.
After that, when you ask for a style profile, add a piece of clothing, ask for outfit ideas, a wardrobe audit, a capsule, a check before you buy or a list of what your wardrobe is missing, or generate a picture of a look, the photos and text that request needs travel over an encrypted connection to Mera's servers, hosted on Cloudflare, and straight on to the company that produces the result.
Your face photo and, if you add one, your full-body photo are read for styling attributes: coloring, proportion and silhouette. Mera does not store any part of your photos after the result is produced. The result itself, which can be a generated picture of you, is held for about an hour (see How long things are kept).
What Mera collects, how, and why
Face and full-body photos, including a photo of an outfit you are wearing

- You take or choose them during setup, when you start over, or when you photograph an outfit to add its pieces. When you generate a picture of a look, the app sends the profile photos you already took.

- Mera's servers; Anthropic, to build your style profile and to list the pieces in an outfit photo; OpenAI, only when you generate a picture of yourself in a look

Photos of clothing: pieces you add, and things you are thinking of buying
- How it is collected
- You take or choose them in the app
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers; Anthropic, to name and describe each piece and to judge a possible purchase; OpenAI, to redraw each piece you add as a clean product photo, and to draw a look you generate
- Why
- To name and sort your clothes, show them on a clean background, and say whether something is worth buying

Wardrobe text and style profile: names, categories and colors of your pieces, your four style results and your edits to them
- How it is collected
- Typed by you or produced by the app, stored on your device, and sent with a request only when that request needs it
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers; Anthropic, for wardrobe audits, capsules, purchase checks, lists of what your wardrobe is missing, and outfit ideas on Premium; OpenAI, for outfit ideas on the free plan
- Why
- To make outfits and plans from your own wardrobe and to judge pieces against your profile

Today's weather and a city-level place name, only if you allow location
- How it is collected
- Your device reads your approximate location and gets today's weather from Apple Weather (WeatherKit). Only the weather and the name of your city leave your device for Mera.
- Who receives it
- Apple, to return the weather; Mera's servers; the model writing your outfit ideas (OpenAI on the free plan, Anthropic on Premium)
- Why
- So outfit ideas suit today's weather, in the temperature units you use
- Kept for
- Not kept by Mera. Anthropic and OpenAI: up to 30 days (see below)
Anonymous device identifier, plan and monthly counts
- How it is collected
- Generated on your device at first launch, and checked with Apple DeviceCheck so the free monthly allowance is given once per device
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers; Apple (DeviceCheck)
- Why
- To count looks and renders and to prevent abuse. The identifier is not linked to your name, email address or Apple Account.
- Kept for
- Until you delete it in Profile > Settings > Delete my server data, or ask by email. Deleting the app does not remove it: the identifier is stored in your device's Keychain, which survives deleting and reinstalling the app. That is also why your plan and remaining allowance come back after a reinstall.
Invite codes, if you created or redeemed one
- How it is collected
- When you created an invite code or opened an invite link someone sent you. Codes are linked to the anonymous identifier only.
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers
- Why
- To give both people the invite bonus, and to stop a device redeeming its own code
- Kept for
- With your device record, until you delete it in Profile > Settings, or ask by email
Purchase record: your Premium plan (monthly or yearly) and Apple's transaction identifier
- How it is collected
- From Apple's signed purchase record and App Store server notifications
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers; Apple processes the payment
- Why
- To turn Premium on for your device and to handle renewals, refunds and cancellations
- Kept for
- While the subscription record is needed. Refund and revocation records are kept to prevent refund fraud.
Usage events: which screens you reached, which feature hit a limit, which request failed, and how long the app took to open, as a range
- How it is collected
- Automatically, unless you turn off "Share anonymous usage data" in Profile > Settings
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers only. Mera uses no analytics company.
- Why
- To understand which parts of the app are used and which fail. Event names and values come from a fixed list on the server, so no photo, wardrobe text or place name can be recorded this way.
- Kept for
- Per-day, per-feature rows: 90 days. The first time your device reached each milestone, such as finishing setup or saving a first outfit: kept indefinitely; it holds only the milestone's name and a time. Totals with no identifier: kept indefinitely.
Days your device was active: one dated row per day, with no other detail
- How it is collected
- Automatically, from the session token every request needs. This one is not covered by the "Share anonymous usage data" switch.
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers
- Why
- To count how many devices come back from month to month
- Kept for
- 400 days
Push tokens, with your locale, app version and time zone
- How it is collected
- The app's token only if you allow notifications. A widget's token if you add a Mera widget to your Home Screen or Apple Watch.
- Who receives it
- Mera's servers; Apple (Apple Push Notification service) delivers the notification or widget update
- Why
- To send your morning outfit at the right local time and to refresh your widget
- Kept for
- Until the token stops working or you delete your device record. The app's token is also removed after you turn off notifications for Mera in your device's Settings, the next time you open Mera. The "Daily outfit suggestion" switch in the app does not remove it.
Request logs: IP address, time and status of each request
- How it is collected
- Automatically, as part of answering a request from the app or a visit to this website
- Who receives it
- Cloudflare, on Mera's behalf
- Why
- Security, preventing abuse, and fixing errors
- Kept for
- A short period in Cloudflare's log store, under Cloudflare's Workers Logs retention for Mera's plan. Mera does not copy them anywhere else.
Who receives your data
These four companies are the only ones that receive data from Mera:
Cloudflare, Inc.
- Receives
- Every request the app makes, since Mera's servers run on Cloudflare: photos (held in memory only while a request is answered), wardrobe text, the anonymous identifier, monthly counts, purchase records, usage events and push tokens, plus the request logs described above.
- Why
- To host Mera's servers and database.
- Keeps
- No photos you send. Results, including generated pictures, for about an hour so a dropped connection can retry. Everything else for the periods listed in this policy.
Anthropic, PBC (Claude)
- Receives
- Face, full-body and outfit photos; photos of clothes you add or might buy; wardrobe text and your style profile; on Premium, today's weather and city name.
- Why
- To build your style profile, name your clothes, list the pieces in an outfit photo, and write wardrobe audits, capsules, purchase checks, lists of what your wardrobe is missing and, on Premium, outfit ideas.
- Keeps
- May hold a request for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, and longer only if its safety systems flag it or the law requires it. It may not use your content to train its models.
OpenAI
- Receives
- Your profile photos and photos of your clothes when you generate a picture of a look; each photo of a piece you add; on the free plan, wardrobe text, your style profile, today's weather and city name.
- Why
- To draw generated pictures of your looks, redraw your pieces as clean product photos, and write outfit ideas on the free plan.
- Keeps
- May hold a request for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, and longer only if its safety systems flag it or the law requires it. It may not use your content to train its models.
Apple
- Receives
- What Apple's own services need: your purchase, your iCloud data in your own account, push tokens, a DeviceCheck query about your device, and your approximate location for the weather.
- Why
- To provide the weather forecast through WeatherKit, sync your wardrobe, outfits and profile through your own iCloud, process subscription payments, deliver notifications and widget updates, and confirm the free allowance is given once per device.
- Keeps
- Under Apple's own terms and privacy policy.
Cloudflare, Anthropic and OpenAI receive data under written terms requiring confidentiality, appropriate security measures and no use of your content to train their models: the same or equal protection of your data as this policy states. Apple handles what its own services need under its own terms and privacy policy. If another company is ever added, this list changes first, and the app asks you to agree again before it sends another photo.
How long things are kept
- Your photos, and the wardrobe text and weather sent with a request: Mera keeps no part of them. Anthropic or OpenAI may hold the request that produced your result for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, longer only if their safety systems flag it or the law requires it. Neither may use it to train their models.
- Results sent back to you (the text of a styling result, or a generated picture): held for about an hour, so that a dropped connection can be retried without using your allowance again, and then deleted.
- Your wardrobe, outfits and profile: on your device and in your own iCloud, for as long as you keep them.
- Metering and billing records (which request used which allowance): 90 days.
- Generated-picture records (model, cost, how long it took, whether you saved it, never the picture): 180 days.
- Allowance-grant decisions (which device received which monthly allowance): 90 days.
- Subscription notification records: 90 days.
- Which features you reached, per day: 90 days. Days your device was active: 400 days.
- First-time milestones (the first time your device reached each one, such as finishing setup): kept indefinitely; they hold only the milestone's name and a time.
- Totals with no identifier at all (daily counts, daily spend): kept indefinitely.
- Your device record and invite records: kept until you delete them in Profile > Settings > Delete my server data, or ask by email. Deleting the app does not remove them, and Mera has no way of knowing the app was deleted: the anonymous identifier lives in your device's Keychain and comes back with a reinstall, along with your plan and remaining allowance.
- Request logs (IP address, time, status): a short period in Cloudflare's log store, under Cloudflare's Workers Logs retention for Mera's plan. Mera does not copy them anywhere else.
- Refund and revocation records tied to an Apple transaction: kept to prevent fraud, including after a deletion request.
Your choices
- Turn cloud styling off: Profile > Settings > "Send my photos for cloud styling". With it off, nothing is sent to Anthropic or OpenAI. Your wardrobe, saved outfits, wear tracking, palette matching, sharing and everything already made keep working.
- Turn usage data off: Profile > Settings > "Share anonymous usage data". It stops every usage event, including the app launch time. It does not stop the dated active-device record described above, which comes from the session token every request needs rather than from an event the app chooses to send.
- Delete your data: Profile > Settings > Delete my server data removes the record for your device's anonymous identifier and everything keyed to it immediately. The only records kept are refund-fraud records tied to Apple transactions. Deleting lowers your allowance until the 1st to 2 looks and no renders, and a Premium subscription stays active with Apple but is no longer linked to the device. The next time the app talks to Mera's servers, for notifications, usage data or styling, it starts a fresh anonymous record under a new identifier. Your wardrobe, looks and profile stay on your device and in your iCloud. You can also email support@merastyle.app.
- Change the analysis: every part of your style profile can be edited, and Profile > Settings > Start over runs the analysis again with new photos.
Location
Mera asks for approximate location only to get today's weather through Apple WeatherKit, and only the weather and a city-level place name reach Mera and the model writing your outfit ideas. Mera never asks for precise location and never tracks you in the background. It works fully without location; outfit ideas are then made without the weather.
Children
Mera is not meant for children. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13, or under the equivalent minimum age in your country.
EU and UK
The legal basis for processing your photos is your consent, under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, given in the app before your first photo is sent. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile > Settings; processing that already happened stays lawful.
The wardrobe text, weather and city name sent with a styling request, the anonymous identifier, plan and monthly counts, invite codes, the purchase record and push tokens are processed to provide the features you ask for, under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Request logs, the DeviceCheck query, and refund and revocation records are processed for Mera's legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse and fraud, under Art. 6(1)(f). Usage events and the record of days your device was active are processed for Mera's legitimate interest in knowing which parts of the app are used, which fail, and how many devices come back, also under Art. 6(1)(f).
You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Turning off "Share anonymous usage data" in Profile > Settings stops usage events; for anything else, write to support@merastyle.app. You also have the right to access, correct, delete and export your data: deletion is immediate and self-serve in Profile > Settings > Delete my server data, and for anything else write to support@merastyle.app. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Mera analyzes your photos for styling attributes: coloring, proportion and silhouette. It does not use them for biometric identification and does not derive biometric identifiers from them.
Cloudflare, Anthropic and OpenAI process data in the United States and other countries. Transfers to them rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses in Mera's agreements with them. Apple provides its services to you under its own privacy policy.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. Mera never sees your payment details, only whether a subscription is active and which plan it is.
Shopping links
A shopping link opens a search on a retailer's website with the name of a piece. The retailer receives that search and standard web request data. Mera earns no commission from these links today; if that changes, the link will say so.
This website
This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other sites. Visits appear only in the request logs described above.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. If a change adds a company that receives your photos, or sends more of your data than before, the app asks you to agree again before it sends another photo.
